On Wednesday, August 2nd, the Simsbury Grange will host The Music Quintet, a live improvisational jazz group based in Oberlin, Ohio. The Grange is just one venue on their 2023 ten stop, international summer tour following the release of their new album titled “Plays Music.” The concert will be held indoors and is co-sponsored by the Simsbury Public Library. Doors open at 6 pm for a social hour downstairs. Guests are welcome to bring food and drinks to enjoy or share. The music starts upstairs at 7 pm and donations are gratefully accepted. The Music Quintet consists of students or recent graduates of the Oberlin Conservatory who all compose for the group drawing their inspiration from the music of Ornette Coleman, Charles Mingus and Don Cherry, among others.

Local filmmaker, Ray Asselin will present his 5-part Beaver Pond Wildlife series documenting a full year's time at New England beaver ponds.
