Killingly Grange News for August

By Glenna Bruno

  AUGUST 9, 2013 --

Earlier in May we draped the charter for one of our older members (90 years plus), Sue Dupre.  Just recently we lost another older member (Gen) Genevieve Shippee, a 90 plus year member, to the great Grange above.  Gen has been a member of Killingly Grange #112 for 75 years.  We will miss her as Pomona.

We received three new very young people as new members.  Victoria Aubin, great granddaughter to Gertrude Blain (L.A.S.) and Claire Rhimes as Assistant Steward and Susie Spuria our new young people.

We are planned a fundraiser for June 23 (which will be over by the time this goes to press) for our former Treasurer Phil Greenleaf to help with his medical bills he and his wife Gail are incurring while Phil is battling cancer.  He and Gail are our former Treasurer and Secretary.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to them.  We wish them well.

Our June 17 meeting was election of officers for the coming year.  The following were elected:  Master Bernadette Schuster; Overseer Glenna Bruno; Secretary Denise Aubin; Treasurer Tiffany (Aubin) Burns; Lecturer Eleanor Davis; Steward John Bennett; Lady Assistant Steward Gert Blain; Assistant Steward Elaine Rhimes; Chaplain Anne Duval; Gatekeeper Patricia Valys; Ceres Sara Joseph; Pomona Mildred Briggs; Flora Josephine Stenback; Exec. Comm 1 yr. Gert Blain; 2 yrs. Glenna Bruno; 3yrs. Anne Duval.  Musician Victoria Aubin.

We held a potluck supper before the meeting.  Fourteen members were present with one guest.
