Killingly Grange News for September

By Glenna Bruno

  SEPTEMBER 6, 2013 --

Fifteen members were present for our July 15 informal meeting and potluck supper.  State Membership Director Joan Perry was also present.

It was a HOT, HOT night with fans going but we persevered and continued the meeting and dinner.

Aug. 19 was another “dinner out” at Sweet Evelines in Woodstock.

Our Installation of Officers was held on Sept. 16 and on Sept. 21 we will hold our Killingly Grange Fair- more on that later.

We have draped our charter twice this year and as of our next meeting in Aug. we will drape it again for past Treasurer Phil Greenleaf who just recently succumbed to cancer.  Several of Killingly Grange members attended Phil’s memorial on Tues., July 30.  He will be sorely missed.  We just recently held a turkey dinner to raise funds for the Greenleaf’s medical expenses.  The dinner was well attended and Phil and Gail were in attendance but sadly we couldn’t save our “big teddy bear.”

We seem to gain new members, but also lose as many to death.  Hopefully the coming year will be more productive.
