Around The Grange
January 2014 News from Killingly Grange

By Glenna Bruno

  JANUARY 4, 2014 --

By the time this report is in Thanksgiving will be over and everyone will be worrying about all the weight they gained.  Well take heart.  Christmas is coming and more weight will be packed on.  Got to get out and walk, run, jog….

Killingly Grangers have been busy this last month.  With a Farmers’ Market and vendors, crafters and serving lunch for the same, were very busy.  Just this week- today- Nov. 27, Julie, Pat Lewis, Bernadette, Eleanor and Glenna finished sewing grocery bags (pretty ones) and stuffing them with food for a Thanksgiving meal.  Turkey, potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, etc. for three families in need in and around the area.

We will be doing the same for Christmas.  So Grangers- Killingly and others, if possible, drop off canned goods and fresh winter veggies (for a needy family) to be put into food baskets for the upcoming Christmas holiday.  We never know when we may need help.  These are Killingly Grange projects and the families are always grateful.  Upcoming projects – wreath making and sales along with whatever other money making projects our new Master can think up to make money to support the projects.  Come join us if you have spare time.

We had a new group playing at our Blue Grass Night and we are hoping to get them for a return gig in the near future.

The Kitchen Crew served up a good meal of soup (homemade) and sandwiches and goodies.  Granges always have GOOD COOKS.

Stay warm and healthy and Happy New Year to all.
