July News from Killingly Grange

By Bernadette Schuster / Glenna Bruno

  JULY / AUGUST 2014 --

We held a Mother’s day breakfast which was well attended.  Sadly we draped our charter for John Zadora, a long time member.  Also on the sidelines with medical problems is Linda Harkins.  Get well soon Linda.

Recently we received a letter from longtime member (50 yr.) Mikel Fiske, who resides in Texas and is a retired Army major.  We are arranging to have is 50 year certificate sent to him.

Our tea-less tea party was not as successful as I had hoped but we did ok.

What may have seemed like a troublesome accident at the Killingly Grange in December, 2012 has been cultivated and grown to an amazing opportunity for both the Grange and the Community in Northeast Connecticut.  A truck veered off of the road, damaging the Grange building, and hitting the house next door so hard that the house was shifted from its foundation.

Long time neighbors, Richard and Annette Ouellette and their son Rick purchased the property of the damaged home and the house was demolished.
