Public Relations News
And the Winners are...

By Terri Fassio and Robert Charbonneau, Public Relations Co-Directors

  NOVEMBER 3, 2011 --

The Public Relations Committee would like to thank all the Granges who entered our contests this past year.  We had a good showing, with at least one entry in each category.  The winners are as follows:

“In the News” - Best Newspaper Article Contest - Entries were of printed or published newspaper articles written by the media.  2nd Place - Winchester Grange No. 74.  1st Place - Ekonk Community Grange No. 89

“Let’s Advertise” - Best Grange Event Poster - Entries were posters designed, executed, and used by Granges for an event.

Digital Category -2nd Place - Ekonk Community Grange No. 89; 1st Place - Winchester Grange No. 74

Traditional Category - 1st Place - Lyme Grange No. 147

“Convey the Message” - Best Grange-written Press Release Contest - Entries were press releases written and used by a Grange.  1st Place - Winchester Grange No. 74

“Show Us Your Stuff” - Grange Marketing Contest - This contest asked for submissions of a report of no more than 10 pages containing a description and photos/scans on how Granges promote themselves through marketing.  2nd Place - Ekonk Community Grange No. 89; 1st Place - Winchester Grange No. 74

“Spreading the Word” - Connecticut State Grange Website Participation Contest  -- This contest is based on numbers of submissions to the CT State Grange website.

1 to 5 Submissions -

Cannon, Cawasa, Cheshire, Granby, Higganum, Hillstown, Norfield, Oxford, Prospect, Southington.

6 or more Submissions -

Glastonbury, Norwich, Taghhannuck

Because both Bob and myself handle the website submissions for our respective Granges, we felt it was not fair to include them in the same running with the other Granges in this category.  So we developed a special President’s Award for both Meriden Grange No. 29 and Winchester Grange No. 74.

“Spot On” - 30-Second Grange Video Commercial Contest - In this contest we had only one submission.  The winner is Winchester Grange No. 74.  Their winning video is available for viewing at http://www.YouTube.com/WinchesterGrange

The contests for 2012 will have a few changes and additions. All the details will be released soon.
