Spotlight on... Sharon Moroch

By Jon Russell, State Agriculture Director

  FEBRUARY 4, 2012 --

Sharon Moroch is a member of Colchester Grange #78 and Animal Superintendent and recording secretary for Hamburg Fair. Sharon raises pigs, goats, sheep, cattle, rabbits, ducks, chickens, geese for meat and eggs. She uses the meat and eggs for her family, but also sells them. In additions she has a pair of oxen which she likes to pull. She works a full time job and is steward at Colchester Grange.

After last year’s success with the seed contest we decided to continue the program this year with a new variety of squash. This year, members will grow Hart Seed’s ‘spaghetti squash’ and keep track of how much lbs. of produce they donate to their local food bank. Each Grange will have Squash Seeds sent to them in the next month. The decoration contest will require members to grow any variety of Hart Seed’s Pumpkins. Members can carve them into Jack-O-Lanterns, Paint them or anything they want. To learn more about Hart Seeds go to www.hartseed.com.
