Plant some spaghetti squash

By Jon Russell, CT State Grange Agriculture Director

  JUNE 4, 2012 --

Now is the time to consider the Agriculture Committee’s Seed Contest. In our zone, the last frost date is in mid-May. This is the time that gardeners all around our state start to plant their gardens outside.

Start planning your garden by getting all your garden supplies in order. Hart Seeds, located in Wethersfield CT has generously donated squash seed that our committee sent to your granges for two years now. Please visit their site Hartseed.com to find a dealer near you.

The Squash variety we are using this year for our competition is Hart’s Spaghetti Squash. For you to participate in the competition, you must use this variety of seed so that we are all growing the same thing.

If you have any questions please email me at agriculture@ctstategrange.org
