National Grange welcomes new Legislative Director

By National Grange Press Release (7/6/12)

  JULY 6, 2012 --

On July 6, the National Grange welcomed Grace Boatright as the new Legislative Director of the 145-year-old nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy organization.

Boatright, born and raised near Austin, Texas, has been a member of the Grange staff since September 2010 as the Programs Assistant and has been heavily involved in the legislative affairs of the Grange since that time.

“I always knew I would work in politics and legislation, but getting to fight for a cause I truly believe in makes going to work a great experience,” Boatright said. “I grew up in the countryside of central Texas and know firsthand the frustrations that rural Americans face on a daily basis.”

“Driving four miles to the post office, chasing longhorns back into my neighbors’ pen, and living with dial-up Internet were once my own reality, not just Washington rhetoric, and I can’t wait to get to work advocating for the good people still living in America’s heartland,” Boatright said. “The Grange is full of good people doing good things and I’m so happy to be their new Legislative Director.”

Boatright holds a BBA from Concordia University Texas, with concentrations in finance and marketing. Prior to joining the Grange staff, she worked under the Sergeant-at-Arms of the Texas State Senate.

During her first weeks as Director, Boatright said she intends to continue her focus on the 2012 Farm Bill, broadband expansion, postal reform, and other pending issues affecting rural America.
