Ekonk Community Junior Grange News for February

By Rebecca Gervais

  FEBRUARY 17, 2013 --

On the 9th of December, several kids made aprons and fabric covered picture frames for Christmas gifts.  It was a lot of fun, and an easy, but special, gift for the kids to make.  Special thanks to Diane Davis for her idea, fabric, and help!

Another $20.00 was donated to St. Jude.  That brought our total up to $461.00!

Ekonk Junior had a busy December!  We held our Christmas Play, The Littlest Reindeer, and about 100 people were there to support us.  The kids did an awesome job!  Maria Angelone did a GREAT job on her guitar and singing us two popular Christmas carols.  We made $70.00 on our Christmas tree raffle, special thanks to the Griffiths who donated it.  Special thanks also go out to Linc Cooper who cut out a plywood and 2x4 sleigh and chimney, and to Deborah Sharpe who painted them up. Our set looked almost as good as the kids.  Santa capped off a great evening by handing out presents to all the kids.

Allyson DiNola presented her Native American information, and earned another badge!  She had pictures to go along with her interesting facts.

Our January meeting found us playing party type games.  Marshmallow and spaghetti towers were created, bean bags were tossed (girls won), and musical chairs was played. 18 members were present.  A group of volunteers will be coming up with an idea of something that we can do for Sandy Hook students to celebrate the lives that were lost.

In February the girls had the program.  Can’t wait to report on what they came up with!
