Ekonk Community Juniors November News

By Rebecca Gervais

  NOVEMBER 8, 2014 --

Ekonk Jr. had a busy October.  On the 15th, we met the National Representatives to State Session.

On the 24th we held our Annual Halloween Party and Hayride.  Cannot wait to see what the youth have planned for the haunted hayride.

On the 25th, Sterling held an Ag Day, and we ran the children’s games, as well as having a bake sale table.  Later on the 25th, Sterling is having its second annual Spooktacular.  Complete with a Truck-or Treat, Storyteller, and haunted hayride.

On Halloween Night, new member Tracy Hanson will have her trunk decorated and filled with candy/info. about our Junior Grange at Voluntown’s Trunk-or-Treat.

At our October meeting, our newly installed officers ran their first meeting.  We have a young bunch!  New President Alisa, did a great job!  We harvested our garden, not as much this year.  We had to replant, as the seeds from the first plantings did not sprout!  Frustrating.  We persevered, and were able to get some squash to donate.

On Sunday, November 9th, we will be visiting Tomaquag Museum.  It is a Native American museum about 20 min, from the hall, in Rhode Island.  Just off Route 165.  We will have to BE there at 2 P.M. so if you wanted to caravan, we would leave the Grange at 1:20.  The cost is $6 per person.  The tour/program will last about an hour.  I need a count, ASAP, as they do have a limit of 30.
