| DECEMBER 5, 2014 -- Well, this is my first article on membership and I’m having a hard time getting it started. I guess I will just rattle off some of my many thoughts on membership growth and will attempt to expand on the subject as time goes on.
One, I think new members can be found.
Two, I don’t think we need to totally change our organization to find them.
Three, New members can mean new ideas for programs, but its the current members who should strive to keep alive the rituals and practices of our organization. While the language is old, the values are timeless. If we do not stick up for that part of our organization, no one else will.
Lastly, I would like to see the Grange try a combination of local membership drives on the subordinate level and some statewide programs run by the State Grange committees with and for the subordinate granges.
