| JANUARY 6, 2015 -- Want to get more people out to your meetings? Why not try an old-fashioned Neighbors Night? Not only will you see some new faces at your Grange, but you can make new friends. I’m sure a lot of you can remember when we use to fill our halls to overflowing on a Neighbors Night. When sending out invitations we had to limit how many we sent or we couldn’t fit everyone in. Many times there would be 15 or 20 Pink Sashes in the hall. Unfortunately this is no longer the case.
But, we need to keep trying. In fact, we need to try harder than ever. Sent out the invitations to as many nearby Granges as you can. But, the job doesn’t end there. Have a good program planned. Get everyone involved. If someone is involved in a program they usually think it was a good program. Make sure you hall is clean and welcoming. I have been to Granges that have a greeter stationed at the door welcoming people. All Grangers like to eat. Be sure your refreshment committee is on board and serve up something special. We had a member who joined later in life. At one of our annual picnics he told me that if he had realized what good cooks Grangers were he would have joined the Grange a long time ago.
If you get an invitation… Be sure and read it at your meeting and respond to the inviting Grange. They need to have a good idea of how many to expect.
We all need to do our part to rebuild our Granges and the Lecturers play a big part in this.
