APRIL 2008 --
As usual, I’ve been perusing “ancient” items pertaining to our great organization. How many remember the Connecticut Granger when it was a 8.5”x11” paper? I happened to be looking at an issue from May 1971 and discovered a photo of Phil Prelli and Maureen Palmer at the CSYG meeting, at which they held a shower for the couple.
There are many names like Middlefield #63, Mansfield #64, Pettipaug #203, Mad River #71 that are no longer on our active list. In this issue the State Master, William Pearl, stated: “In our Fraternity we are told ‘That there is work for all and the idler has no place among Patrons of Husbandry.’”
Brother Pearl made reference to the face that new members might be confused regarding all the information they heard. The Master or a qualified member should help in explaining the significance of what he or she heard; or ask if they would like to join one of the projects, committees, or help at up-coming events.
Make your new members welcome and let them share in activities and listen to their ideas for projects. Let’s work on growing in the future.
