| MAY 2008 -- We are into spring and the time of year when our earnest work begins. The evaluations of the Community Granges and the inspections of the Pomona Granges are well under way. As I write this column I have only received a few reports on the evaluations so I cannot make a determination on their success. I do hope that the Community Granges that can will continue to do degrees to bring in new members, and the rest will use one of the other authorized methods to bring in new members. This is the year we hope to fill the seventh degree class with members from Connecticut.
Concerning the National Session this year, have you contacted someone on the Hosting Committee to volunteer your help? If you are not sure where you can help at least volunteer and they will give you choices when they see what spots will be needed. On the same note, the Hosting Committee is again having a roast beef dinner and raffle to raise funds. The dinner will be at Cheshire Grange on May 18 from 12:30 to 2:30 pm. $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children under ten. Those of you who remember how delicious the dinner was last year, well it will be the same this year. The raffle prizes will be similar to last years. Tickets for the dinner and raffle can be purchased from several people, but if you have trouble obtaining them they will be on sale at the door on the 18th.
I cannot tell you, at this time, how the spring Pink Sash meeting went. There are several things I want to discuss with the membership and some things I am planning. If all goes according to plan I will put the information into my June article so that those who cannot make it to the meeting will be informed.
There is one thing I wanted to mention in regards to the evaluations and Pomona Inspections, and that is that I welcome comments on how this new procedure is working out. Specifically of critique or of concerns anyone might have and I don’t mean just from Masters or officers, I mean anyone.
As I said at the beginning of this article, our earnest work begins in the spring and I hope the seeds of membership you have planted will bring about a bountiful harvest in the fall. |
