President's Message
President's Message: Let's Work Together

By George Russell, CT State Grange President

  September 1, 2021 --

As we are in the month of September, the State Grange Session will be approaching. Let us work together to have a successful and prosperous session.

I have been working on this year’s sessions committee assignments. There will be four committees instead of five this year. The committees are: Agriculture/ Conservation and Environment chaired by Noel Miller and Vice Chair Roy Harrington. The Good of the Order/Membership and Master’s Address will be  chaired by Rob Buck and Vice Chair Jaimie Cameron. Legislative/Insurance will be chaired by Alma Graham and Vice Chair Ruel Miller. Credentials/ Constitution and By-Laws will be chaired by Donald Lanoue and Vice Chair Eloise Osuch.

Each of these committees will have 10 Granges assigned to them which will include the three Pomona Granges and two Junior Granges. I will be setting up a Pink Sash and Delegates meeting prior to State Session and the committees  will be meeting by Zoom prior to State Session. The Chairperson and Vice Chairperson will be setting up a meeting night for these sessions for the committees to work on the resolutions. This is something new this year and we are hoping it will save time. We also don’t think it is advisable to have large numbers of people crowded into hotel rooms meeting.

The Big E is scheduled to run from September 17 to October 2. The New England Grange Building will be open for the 17 days and we are looking for help to man the store. Let Noel Miller or myself know if you’re available for any of those dates; we could use your help.

As we are entering September; we are still planning to have an in-person State Session Oct. 21-23 so make your reservations for this conference. We will be following all protocols for COVID-19.  Hope to see everyone on October 21.
