Legislatively Speaking
Legislatively Speaking: Resolution

By Alma Graham, CT State Grange Legislative Director

  September 1, 2021 --

With Fall just around the corner, we now need to start focusing on the upcoming State Grange session in October. I hope that you have been working on your resolutions for the upcoming session. We do ask that all resolutions be submitted by September 15 to allow time for them to be incorporated into the session’s booklet. The resolutions that have already been submitted are being printed in the Granger for all to review prior to the session. This offers an opportunity for your Grange members to review and express their support or rejection of the topics to your delegates before the State Session.

Resolutions must be presented by a Grange, either Community or Pomona, not an individual.  Ideally resolutions should pass through the Community Grange then the Pomona Grange. We recognize that the Pomona Granges have a limited number of meetings during the year and timing of the meetings may make this difficult. You may submit a resolution directly to the State Grange from a Community Grange. If you fi            a last-minute issue that you wish to submit as a resolution after the September 15th deadline, send it in immediately to the State Secretary. It may not appear in the session’s booklet, but we probably could add it to the list for the session.  This is not recommended, and we do highly encourage that the resolutions be submitted by the September 15 deadline.

I look forward to seeing the resolution topics and some lively discussions of the resolutions at the State Session.
