Agricultural Committee News: Time to Think About Ag Awards

By Irene Percoski, CT State Grange Agricultural Committee

  DECEMBER 1, 2023 --

We are an organization based on agriculture, yet there were no awards given out at this year’s State Session. Why? Is there not one single person worthy of Professional of the Year, or Young Professional, or Agricultural Promoter? Have we all distanced ourselves from looking for those people who excel at a job? The award is not exclusive to the farm industry. Anyone who has worked hard and demonstrated leadership and professional skills in ANY field of work is eligible for the award if they are a Grange member. The Promoter award is not confined to being a Grange member. It could be someone who advocates or supports agriculture in the State. It may be a friend or neighbor or someone in a government position who truly supports local farmers or the farming industry. All three of these awards are important to the Grange and to you as an individual. NOW is the time to start looking around for that special person, so open your eyes and ears and look for someone you think is worthy for the 2024 State session Award.
